The Insider's Limon Audio Guide begins with an overview and background of the region, starting from the sign for Limon 28 Kilometers, close to the town of Venezia on the main road from San Jose. As with all Chapter and program location markers and directions, the listener is prompted when to press Play and Pause along the way, so that the tour can stay roughly in sync with time and distance on the road. Obviously different people are going to use the Guide in different ways, and in different sequences, but our tour assumes the usual direct visitor route from the capital San Jose to the Caribe Sur, on Route 32, the only main road linking the two.
We start with a short tour around the outskirts of the Port of Limon, to see and hear about the original settlement areas, beaches and parks along the Old Limon Road. After the port, apart from one detour around the banana belt of the Valle D'Estrella to see a wildlife refuge and rainforest park, we follow Route 36, the coast road, all the way about 60 kilometers, to it's end at the small village of Manzanillo, just before the magnificnet Gandoca Manzanillo Refuge, which can only be toured on foot or by small boat.. In this Introductory Chapter you'll meet your Insider Guides and hear about how the Port and Province of Limon became a center of Caribbean culture and industry.
